                    Umbilical Cord
                    2022

                                         Three meter long piece composed by clay spheres installed in a desert in southeastern Spain. The work is inspired by the round notion of intimacy in Peter Sloterdijk's work Spheres I. Bubbles. Microspherology and it explores the umbilical cord as a connecting organ that constitutes the most physical attachment to another body that the human experiences. The primigeneous material and the placement in an atmosphere of dryness contribute to a sense of reunion with a dead organ and often forgotten part of our bodies and lives. The installation was produced with the artist's mother and is a statement of the radical attachment from which our lives arise, embracing life as connection.
